Soil Aeration and Root Care Services

Soil Aeration & Root Care Services

Improving Tree Health Through Advanced Soil Aeration

Healthy trees start with healthy roots. Over time, urban soils can become compacted due to construction, foot traffic, vehicles, landscaping practices, and changes to the surrounding environment. Compacted soils limit oxygen availability, restrict root growth, and reduce the tree’s ability to properly absorb water and nutrients.

JC Forestry provides professional soil aeration and root zone restoration services using specialized tools such as an AirSpade®, allowing us to safely loosen compacted soils without damaging sensitive tree roots.

Restoring Healthy Growing Conditions

Unlike traditional excavation methods, pneumatic excavation with an AirSpade uses compressed air to carefully remove and loosen soil while protecting existing roots.

Soil aeration can help with:

  • Improving oxygen availability within the root zone

  • Relieving soil compaction

  • Encouraging new root growth

  • Improving water and nutrient absorption

  • Reducing stress caused by poor soil conditions

  • Supporting trees affected by construction or landscape changes

When Soil Aeration May Be Recommended

Soil aeration and root zone restoration may benefit trees experiencing:

  • Construction-related soil compaction

  • Declining health or reduced vigour

  • Poor soil conditions

  • Exposed or buried root collars

  • Limited root development

  • Stress from urban environments
